Hanburys of Babbacombe

Founded in 1981, Hanburys has carved out a rock-solid reputation as one of the West Country’s top chippies, attracting hordes of locals as well as punters from further afield. Oak beams, stone fireplaces & reclaimed pine furniture create a cosy feel, & the place wears its piscine colours on its sleeve – top-notch fish & chips is the speciality of the house, with crispy battered cod, haddock, lemon sole, hake & the like always much in demand. Alternatively, sit down & ring the changes with, say, a bowl of seafood chowder followed by a thick cut of poached cod or haddock with parsley or cheese sauce. Ginger sponge pudding & fudge brownies are star turns at dessert stage. Note that the takeaway is actually next door to the restaurant.
