Square Meal Review of The Restaurant at Brudenell Hotel
Enviable sea views at just one of the assets at Aldeburgh’s best-known and most prestigious hotel, which stands just a stone’s throw from the town’s shingle beach. The restaurant also comes with
terrific maritime vistas, and the food shows allegiance to Suffolk with Pinney’s smoked fish, some seafood from the Aldeburgh boats and locally reared meats always on show – although the flavours
are broadly European. Seared scallops are served with Puy lentils and bacon, fillet of beef comes with celeriac purée, herb gnocchi, wild mushrooms and rich red wine jus, while roast tranche of
turbot is dressed with béarnaise sauce. After that, expect the likes of blood orange and Campari trifle or a mixed plate of chocolate goodies. Wines are taken seriously and it’s worth looking out
for the special ‘flights with light bites’ offer.
