The humble comforts of tea & cake are taken to decadent new places at this quirky café, which pays homage to 1920s Paris. A jumble of vintage furniture & curios from a time when the Charleston was all the rage, Metrodeco prides itself on its prodigious range of black, green & white loose-leaf teas, served in gorgeous art deco teapots. Expect some zany names, from ‘iron goddess of mercy’ (an oolong blend) to ‘Graham Greene & chocolate’ (Chinese green tea blended with echinacea & cocoa shells). Matching the lovely cuppas is a range of mighty cakes, tarts & ‘head in the clouds’ (aka. meringues), while all-day savoury hits run from toasties & quiches to falafel & game pâté. Antique hunters should check out the basement furniture showroom, which is a trove of art deco treasures.
