Few regional Italians deliver as consistently as this Scarborough old timer, which continues to wow the crowds with its traditional, big-hearted & immaculately crafted food. Chef/patron Giorgio Allessio hails from Piedmont in northern Italy & his menus are infused with the intense flavours & distinctive aromas of game, truffles, risotto & earthy pastas. Other standouts from the well-rounded menu may include a stew of locally landed fish, egg-rich polenta served with roasted peppers in bagna cauda, & veal cooked with Marsala, mushrooms & cream. Desserts are equally inviting, so round off with a classic zabaglione or a confection of dark chocolate, cream & crushed amaretti biscuits. The restaurant occupies two charmingly intimate rooms in a bow-windowed Georgian townhouse, & staff are praised for their friendliness & consideration.
