Square Meal Review of The Green Man ?

This cosy, wood-panelled boozer in Bristol's Kingsdown district is a fine example of a British pub with its beer mats pasted up on the walls, changing selection of ales, pickled eggs behind the bar & mock-gilt, rococo-framed mirrors. Widely touted as the city’s first ‘organic’ hostelry, it features a quartet of accredited beers & ciders on draught, with the names of guest brews chalked up on the wall (many coming from a microbrewery in Somerset); there are organic wines, too, plus a stock of whiskies & trendy liqueurs behind the bar would make any landlord proud. Food is served in an unpredictable ‘pop up’ fashion, but when the menu is running expect robust, gutsy choices such as ale-battered plaice, squirrel pie, rabbit pasties & braised salt-marsh lamb.
