Just a discreet sign depicting a bowler hat marks out the location of this Prohibition-style speakeasy on a backstreet off the Clifton Triangle. It's not ‘members only’, but it has that kind of feel as the door is ‘held’ once all the seats are taken. Service is suitably slick, & the decor fits the bill with a piano in one corner, vintage tasselled orange lamps dotted about, & a bookcase that pushes out into a private room – à la James Bond. Star turns on the drinks list are some seriously booze-heavy cocktails – mostly the owners’ own creations. Hyde & Co’s swanky setting befits the well-heeled punters who tend to frequent the place, but you'll also find groups of students & local workers soaking up the atmosphere & the drinks well into the night.
