Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charlie Sheen – Hollywood’s superstars know all about the glamorous, US-based Buca di Beppo chain. Now it is bringing its fun-loving, ‘dolce vita’ charms to the Village Hotel in England’s movie town, Elstree. Buca is all about eating ‘family style’, & dishes come in three sizes: ‘buca mio’ is a generous single serving; ‘buca small’ feeds up to three people, & ‘buca large’ is enough for a table of five. Mainstays are pizzas, pastas & trattoria favourites such as veal parmigiana, Tuscan steaks & Chianti-braised short ribs – all framed by a host of antipasti & desserts ranging from calamari fritti & bruschetta to tiramisu & baked cheesecake. There’s also a cool terrace, in addition to three movie-themed private dining rooms festooned with statuettes, red leather banquettes & stills from the Hollywood greats.
