Just on the finges of the city centre, this tiny, hip bar & arts venue hosts everything from Cuban-themed cigar, pipe & rum-tasting events to a monthly Sundown Market, where you can buy all manner of vintage, retro & hand-crafted goodies. By day it’s a laid-back hangout offering a modest menu that runs from paninis with crisps to special bowls of dhal with added chorizo; by night it’s a great option for edgy, interesting music spanning everything from live jazz to DJ nights. Beers come from the Artisan Brewing Company, a Cardiff-based outfit whose unadulterated, unfiltered ‘Bare Naked’ beers are big on purity & personality: the 4% Czech Kozel is lively & smooth – much like Gwdihw itself. The name, incidentally, is Welsh for owl & is pronounced ‘goody who’.
