Chequers Inn

The bar at the Chequers is pure Chilterns village inn (think exposed stone walls, low ceilings, an open fire & the hum of conversation), while the lounge offers a more contemporary twist with fashionable leather sofas & low tables. Meanwhile, the rather intimate restaurant makes its point with white linen, old prints & dark-wood floors – a look that suits the Anglo-French cooking & its strong classical undertones. Expect sound ideas & imaginative combos ranging from pan-fried fillet of sea bass with a salt cod bouillabaisse jus, rouille & garlic croûtons to char-grilled beef fillet served with bone marrow, enoki mushrooms, baby artichoke & a bordelaise sauce.
