“Just gets better and better”, declares of fan of this smartly revamped roadside pub – originally conceived as a spin-off from the owners’ online recipe hub. The modern rustic-chic bar is perfect
for a pint of Adnams ale or local cider, while the lofty bare-brick dining room is rightly dedicated to the regional larder. A “constantly changing” seasonal menu could run from Orford smokehouse
platters or Blaxhall rabbit and ham hock terrine with pickled broccoli and a soft-boiled partridge egg to Bramfield beef sirloin or locally landed lemon sole, served with cod brandade, Swiss chard,
caper and lemon butter. Steaks feature on Friday nights, while dessert could be anything from strawberry parfait with dandelion and burdock to a justly renowned version of treacle tart. Meanwhile,
staff get all those “little personal touches” just right. The pub has a brilliant child-friendly garden too.
