With its clean, contemporary look, Lazy Lounge is a light, bright affair, but the key to its popularity is serious wine done with good humour. If hunger pangs need satisfying, however, look to the evening menu of small sharing plates & get stuck into a trio of homemade mini burgers with assorted toppings, smoked haddock & bacon fishcakes or parsnip, swede & carrot fritters with red pepper salsa. Salads & sarnies do duty at lunchtime. The cosmopolitan wine list is an ideal partner for the food, with many by-the-glass selections for those wanting to explore. Draught real ales & lagers are alternatives.
This list scores
highly for presentation, price and friendliness, making the shortlist for two years on the trot. Wines are split by broad style (‘Crisp and Fresh’, and so on), so no reams of French regions, and
giving Slovenian Pinot Gris a chance to compete on an equal footing. Tasting notes are helpful, not too long, and it’s clear, consistent and easy to follow. Some of the ‘Fine and Rare’ prices are
terrific!
