Set amid Wentworth’s immaculate golfing acres in the Surrey green belt, this new grill is a cut above your average clubhouse eatery. A takeover by Caprice Holdings’ impresario Richard Caring in 2006 brought some West End glitz to the space, with a light & airy conservatory leading into a high-ceilinged, buzzy dining room equipped with resident pianist. The menu should ring bells with fans of CH’s big-name London restaurants: the eggs, pasta & rice sections tip their hat to The Ivy, while Daphne’s is represented by a keenly priced set menu (£23 for three courses) featuring the likes of linguine with peas, broad beans & rocket. Otherwise, take advice from the calm, well-versed maître d’ & order the delicate Cornish crab & ginger ravioli with scallops & asparagus. The wine list is limited to two carefully thought-out pages, with nearly all bins in the £30-60 bracket.
