Rick Stein has taken his first step outside the Padstow stronghold with this 130-seater fish & chip restaurant & takeaway opposite Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum. The menu is similar to the ‘Padstein’ original – namely battered cod & haddock together with locally landed species (hake, monkfish, John Dory & sea bass) deep-fried in beef dripping, grilled or roasted in a charcoal oven. A supporting cast of home-cut chips, curry sauce, mushy peas & tartare sauce play their part, & you can wash it all down with cups of tea, reasonably priced wines & good beers – notably Chalky's Bite & Chalky's Bark, produced by Sharp's Brewery in Rock. The set-up also includes a Champagne & oyster bar. Note: no bookings.
