Richmond’s railway station stood close to dereliction for almost 40 years, until a determined & enterprising posse of locals took up the challenge to restore it. Now the place includes two cinema screens, an art gallery, a clutch of artisan food producers & the very appealing Seasons café bar – all in a light, airy space defined by oak, glass & gleaming brick walls. Breakfast includes doorstep toast with butter & jam, lunch brings paninis packed with local ham & cheese alongside salad leaves & chunky chips, while dinner ups the ante with the likes of smoked haddock fishcakes or butternut squash tagine with sour cream & toasted almond couscous. Finish with rhubarb, ginger & orange crumble with Just Jersey ice cream. Service is brisk & cheerful.
