Square Meal Review of Tyddyn Llan ?

Set on the edge of a picture-postcard village in the stunning Dee Valley, this stalwart of the restaurant-with-rooms scene is all about elegance and comfort. Bryan and Susan Webb make a formidable double act (he mans the kitchen, she takes care of front of house), and the restaurant’s fans are legion – locals keep coming back for the superlative aged Welsh Black steak ‘au poivre’. Elsewhere, Bryan conjures up beautifully presented dishes with a classic French base and an emphasis on Mediterranean flavours: scallops with brandade of salt cod and watercress sauce, loin of lamb with spiced aubergine and tapenade, and wild bass with laverbread beurre blanc. Dedication to sourcing fine seasonal and native ingredients marks out the culinary style, and the kitchen’s confident yet sensible approach has been rewarded with a Michelin star since 2010.
