The Bugle

On a warm summer’s day there’s more than a touch of the Med about this yachting fraternity favourite, with a deck-like terrace out front & views over the bobbing masts & sails of boats on the Hamble. While nautical prints point up the seafaring theme, flagstones, an oak-topped bar, timbers & beams, exposed brickwork & open fires give a resolutely English country feel to this sympathetically restored, listed pub. Enjoy real ales or well-chosen wines, then push the boat out with dishes including moules-frites or South Coast sole served with lemon & parsley butter. Daily blackboard specials also take in local seafood specialities, but also embrace pubby staples such as local sausages with mustard mash & caramelised onion gravy.
