After a decade as a tearoom & award–winning bistro, this homespun harbourside eatery has shifted focus, putting fish & chips at the heart of its menu. Owners Rob & Caroline Jones say the change will give them time to focus on other projects, but it does give locals & tourists the chance to sample the real thing just a stone’s throw from the sea. The choice of big-name, sustainable species runs to whiting, ling, hake, red gurnard & more besides, the batter is laced with beer, & the chips are hand-cut. If you fancy something a bit more upmarket, try one of the specials such as lemon sole meunière or whole sea bream ‘en papillote’ with garlic, lemon, thyme & olive oil, before rounding off with homemade treacle tart or apple crumble & custard.
