Buckinghamshire’s answer to The Ivy – famous faces are almost guaranteed at the new Couture Dining Room at Pinewood Studios. The restaurant not only hosts resident actors & directors (Quantum of Solace & Mamma Mia are among recent productions), but is also open to the public, & it’s far from your average studio canteen. Located in the manor house’s original dining room, it’s an elegant union of polished wood floors & ornate ceilings, with windows looking out over manicured gardens. Seasonal produce forms the backbone of the menu, & it’s put to good use in modern dishes such as beef carpaccio with parmesan, horseradish & beetroot purée, followed by pan-fried halibut with dill fondant potatoes or rump of lamb with Lancashire hotpot & minted pea purée. Indulgent desserts include peanut butter cheesecake with roasted pineapple. There's a prix fixe menu at £9.95/11.95 for two/three courses, while separate elevenses & afternoon tea menus can be served on the patio in clement weather.
