Square Meal Review of Field & Fork at Pallant House Gallery ?

Part Queen Anne heritage, part classy contemporary brick & glass walls, Chichester’s Pallant House is one of the finest modern art galleries in the south-east. Its cleverly designed restaurant, which overlooks an über-smart courtyard, is now home to Sam Mahoney’s Field & Fork. He offers an eclectic menu to attract morning or afternoon snackers, as well as diners in search of full-on, upmarket meals. Come here for light bites (pea, feta & chickpea fritters, toasted pumpkin seed salad or poached eggs florentine) as well as more substantial dishes of game pie served with truffled savoy cabbage & peppered jus or poached free-range chicken with a gratin of macaroni & mushrooms, smoked pancetta & basil sauce. To finish, try lime & basil pannacotta with poppy-seed tuile & roasted pineapple. An excellent wine list matches the food & the arty ambience.
