It may look medieval, but this remarkable house was actually created during the1920s from original 13th-century materials & antique architectural salvage. But while the setting might be repro, the overall effect is highly convincing with old stone windows, heavy iron-studded doors & ancient arches. The Tapestry restaurant with its leaded windows, wooden vaulted ceiling & tapestry-hung walls provides a romantic backdrop for some thoroughly modern cooking: perhaps braised veal shin with carrot ravioli & roasted pepper coulis to start, then confit leg of chicken with white bean stew, rosemary & red wine jus, with sticky toffee pudding to finish.
