Dandelion & Burdock

Sowerby Bridge is just along the valley from hippy Hebden & is very much its more straight-laced sister – so it’s all the more surprising to find a vegan restaurant there. Dandelion & Burdock is a splendidly funky space, with brick walls, wooden floors, high ceilings & scrubbed pine tables – each strikingly adorned with a single dahlia. The ambient soundtrack is smooth & service is warm & helpful. Sunday brunch is a tasty affair, with the likes of tofu scramble (a generous plateful of new potatoes, tofu & nicely roasted peppers, red onion & cherry tomatoes) or a cracking Tuscan pasty, bursting with olives, courgettes & sun-dried tomatoes, plus champ & steamed broccoli on the side. Desserts are a triumph, particularly the mango cheesecake with chocolate sauce. In all, really good value across the board.
