A pebble beach there may be on this stretch of coastline, but newcomers wont be aware of it from the dizzy heights of this upbeat clifftop restaurant – although there are exceptional views of the Needles & Isle of Wight. Full-length windows, summery colours & an open-plan, split-level design make the best of the location, while on warm days the alfresco terrace comes into play. Inside, enticing aromas & visible kitchen action heighten gastronomic expectations. The menu is a crowd-pleasing mix of simple, carefully cooked modern dishes underpinned by a French theme. Seafood abounds – local lobster, dressed crab or maybe monkfish a la plancha with saffron mussel rice & romesco sauce – along with classics such as calf’s liver with sage butter, crispy bacon & mash.
