Square Meal Review of The Restaurant at Aviator Hotel
From the outside, this slick modern building might be mistaken for the HQ of a hi-tech company rather than a boutique hotel overlooking an airfield. It certainly scores high in the cool stakes,
& gives a nod to the world of the private jet – note the swish, sexy lobby with its circular tiered floor ascending skyward. The clean-cut bar/brasserie also looks good with its low lighting
& fashionable cream leather seating, & the food is as snappily dressed as the surroundings – witness pan-fried sea bass teamed with white onion purée, wild mushrooms, seasonal greens &
red wine sauce, or a robust dish of braised pork belly with sauerkraut, crispy potato & caramelised apple purée. Desserts yo-yo between baked vanilla cheesecake & pineapple tarte Tatin.
This smart package also includes a bar menu, a first-floor cocktail bar (evenings only) & a terrace.

The hotel is privately owned by the TAG Group and overlooks the private airport which is also owned by TAG. Its a contemporary hotel, designed for elite travellers.
We both previously really enjoyed our afternoon tea at the Aviator and were keen to go back....unfortunately our experience this time wasn't quite as good. The presentation of the food was good, and the food itself looked and tasted wonderful....but the service was slightly lacking... More from Tea With Me And Friends »
