Located in the classically pretty Cotswold village of Painswick, this eccentric boutique hotel is the brainchild of Marchella de Angelis (founder of Lounge Lover, a members’ club in Shoreditch). The interior of this elegant, Palladian building has been give a stunningly innovative makeover: bedrooms are luxuriously theatrical, with mad mirrors, cushions textured like spaghetti & funky art on dramatically padded walls. There’s an air of decadence, too, with vintage & contemporary furniture sitting comfortably side by side. Locally sourced, organic produce finds its way into the kitchen for dishes such as white asparagus & avocado with balsamic dressing & roast rump of beef.
