Fresh, modern & contemporary in feel, this new Christchurch landmark has a something-for-everyone policy, boasting fine views of the River Stour from the smart Tides Restaurant & prow-shaped bar, the terrace here offering the best alfresco in town. There’s much to admire on the plate, too. The kitchen combines a classical style with global influences: starters range from south coast shellfish bisque with rouille & a saffron scone to smoked fillet of eel teamed with roast pumpkin & chestnut, while mains take in turbot steak with braised red lentils & roast pumpkin flavoured with caraway, aniseed sauce, or rabbit with prunes, Parma ham, glazed root vegetables & almond-sultana couscous.
