A fierce pride in Yorkshire heritage & local produce defines proceedings at this enterprising set-up, & the seasonal menu is thick with regional accents – although the kitchen goes about its business with consummate care & a sharp contemporary eye. Pigeon breast served with seared oranges & roasted beetroot & pine nut salad might set the tone, while main courses confirm the feel-good, taste-good mood with, say, pork tenderloin & black pudding or lemon & mint-crusted lamb fillet. Leeds Seventeen is off the beaten track in a smartly converted roadhouse pub, but it’s well worth the trip – especially as the interior opens out into a 96-cover spread with bar & function rooms, all adorned with photo blow-ups of Swaledale lambs & the various Yorkshire farmers & fishermen who have delivered the goods to this suburban cracker.
