Royal Oak

The Royal Oak was once the local in this pretty South Downs village close to Goodwood, but when it transformed itself into a lively gastropub, its popularity soon spread. An additional conservatory adds extra character to the old pub, which has retained its fireplaces & nooks & crannies. The frequently changing menu may offer crispy whitebait or sweet & sour pork, an oven-baked goats' cheese & tomato salad or Selsey crab for starters. Good simple pub grub also encompasses warm roast gammon with fried eggs & creamy mash. Tuna & chilli fishcakes, seared scallops with black pudding or calf’s liver with bacon & lentils are equally attractive up-to-date dishes. Good wine list & service keep everyone smiling.
