Portsmouth and neighbouring Southsea are awash with Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants, but comfortable, smart Bombay Bay is in another league. Seafaring artefacts chime with the restaurant’s bird’s-eye view of the yacht-filled marina, while in summer the balcony patio is a popular spot. The modern Indian menu emphasises lighter cooking, with well-presented dishes produced from well-sourced ingredients such as crab Malibar, chicken with mango, coconut, almonds & cream or king prawn suka coated with a memorable sauce of garlic, chilli, coriander, tumeric & coconut.
