There isn’t a better table view to be had in all of Liverpool, so make the trip up the 34th floor of the West Tower, admire the stunning 360-degree vistas and imagine you’re in a glamorous 1970s Martini ad. Panoramic 34 can be anything you want it to be – from a bar bolthole or a venue for afternoon tea at £20 a head to a cash-splashing evening out with fine wines and top-label Champagne. The kitchen feeds the big spenders with a terse menu of contemporary ideas such as pan-fried scallops with beetroot purée, horseradish and leek mousse, fennel-poached cod or cannon of lamb with shoulder and sweetbreads, almond, mint and dauphinoise potato, followed by – say – coconut bavarois with poached grapes, pineapple pancakes and Malibu dressing. A top-floor experience not to be missed.
