Stamford is a town in Lincolnshire with many 17th and 18th century stone buildings, old timber framed establishments, and medieval parish churches. This beautiful part of Lincolnshire has much history. Actually, the town has been famed for its many church spires and Burghley House which was built in the Elizabethan times. Just across the border in Rutland, you'll find Rutland Water which is Europe's largest man made lake. Don't get this Stamford confused with that of the one in Connecticut, though, as they are wildly different – this one is undoubtedly a British town. There's plenty to do here from visiting markets, enjoying museum exhibitions, shopping in independent boutiques, and climbing quite some flights of stairs to get an aerial view of the beautiful town of Stamford, and the wider English countryside.
