Restaurants in Coventry

Once the best-preserved medieval city in England, large swathes of Coventry’s centre were flattened by bombing in 1940 and the subsequent rebuild of concrete subways and shopping centres has not stood the test of time – the centre is in need of a refit. But tourists are drawn to Sir Basil Spence’s beautiful Grade I-listed cathedral, which incorporates the ruins of the old cathedral and displays Graham Sutherland’s tapestry of ‘Christ in Majesty’ and Jacob Epstein’s bronze ‘St Michael and the Devil’, and to the 13th-century Holy Trinity Church, with its fine 15th-century Doom painting over the chancel. Restaurants in Coventry are a mix of big-brand chains, independents like centrally located Blue Bistro with its modern British cooking and Millsy’s, a popular pasta-pizza eatery in suburban Earlsdon, and Asian restaurants such as Nazraj Signature Brasserie, with its mix of modern and traditional Indian dishes, or the very modern Asian Flavours.
