Restaurants in Aberdeen

Scotland’s third-largest city grew up as two separate settlements or ‘burghs’: Old Aberdeen at the mouth of the River Don, and New Aberdeen, a fishing and trading settlement on the Dee Estuary. Today, culturally rich Aberdeen boasts striking granite architecture (and the nickname ‘Granite City’), has a dynamic modern arts scene and through shipbuilding and fishing, Scotland's strongest industrial heritage; it’s also been dubbed Britain’s flower capital, having won Beautiful Britain in Bloom a record-breaking 10 times. Major attractions include the medieval St Machar’s Cathedral, Aberdeen University’s King’s College Chapel, the sixth-oldest golf club in the world (Royal Aberdeen, founded in 1780) and Balmedie Beach, north of the city, offering 14 miles of golden sand. Restaurants in Aberdeen generally favour the casual style adopted by The Beautiful Mountain, with its splendid range of all-day food, and the hugely popular Café 52. Aberdeen’s finest, however, is The Silver Darling, a Gallic-tinged seafooder.
