About

OPENING WINTER 2020

Caprice Holdings are continuing to expand their ever-growing portfolio of Ivy restaurants and the latest addition is restaurant in the beautiful town of Windsor. Taking the 'brasserie' moniker that a number of the regional outposts use, the restaurant is located in a prime spot on the High Street of this Berkshire town, and sits right opposite the gardens of the iconic Windsor Castle. Serving an all-day menu of food which encompasses everything from British classics, to dishes inspired by international cuisines, The Ivy Royal Windsor Brasserie is a relaxed yet sophisticated option looking for a top quality but reasonably priced meal.

Based in a former hotel, the red brick facade of the restaurant has an immediate old-school feel to it, which perfectly suits its location in this historic town. This carries through to the inside which has elements of the traditional to it, with the odd flash of colour and funky fitting, to bring it into the modern day.

There are a huge number of different menus on offer at The Ivy Royal Windsor Brasserie, which cover everything from breakfast, to a set lunch menu, and even afternoon tea. However, what the Ivy is best known for is its huge all-day à la carte menu and that is of course at the centre of this outpost's food offering. You can expect starters such as buffalo mozzarella served with grapes, mint, parsley and hazelnuts, and seared scallops with smoked cauliflower purée; while main courses range from a signature shepherd's pie, to a luxurious lobster linguini. The dessert menu is packed full of classics such as crème brûlée and an idulgent milk chocolate bombe filled with vanilla ice cream and honeycomb.

The Ivy has always prided itself on having a great selection of drinks available behind the bar, and that's just the case at The Ivy Royal Windsor Brasserie with everything from cocktails to craft lager on offer, as well as an impressive list of wines.

Not up to standard

Had the set menu.  One starter (coppa ham) impossible to cut, accompliment sloppy.  Both mains, minute steaks were also impossible to cut even with steak knife.  Tough and sinewy.  Chips looked nice but were very dry inside. Sent main course back.  Staff were very nice.

Sub standard lunch

Met some friends here for lunch yesterday and it was really not good. The food was below average, tasteless and we had to send it back. Service was good but nobody bothered to come over and apologise for the bad food so we will not be returning. Such a shame that the Ivy brand has deteriorated so much.

Lovely atmosphere & inspiring surroundings. We were very well looked after & our guests who had never been there before thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did we! I shall be rebooking soon!

Windsor should learn from Marlow!

Compared to the Marlow restaurant we all felt that the meal was rather disappointing in quality (and not especially warm either). My husband and I both had the Ivy burger and the patty itself was not very juicy or well seasoned. The No tails arrived in the most ridiculously tiny cocktail glasses that literally could be finished in three sips and when we asked if we could add an additional latte to our desert and coffee selection, we were told to expect a 15 min delay as they were 'busy'!

This was meant to be a special meal for a 30th birthday but we won't return to this branch I'm afraid. Even litttle things like nobody asking if we wanted our coats hung up leave a lasting impression.
