If trekking in Nepal sounds like way too much effort, just travel to Tooting. Stick with us here... venture into Broadway Market and you'll spot a tiny Himalayan hill station, decked out with pics of mountain explorers and with vintage snowshoes dangling from the ceiling. Thankfully no high altitude training is required to enjoy a bevvy at this bijou bar with just 12 seats. Rum and gin feature large on the small, themed cocktail list, which includes the Gurkha's Ruin (gin, hibiscus syrup, lime and cranberry juice with a soda top). We plumped for the Tenzing Julep – well made with rum rather than the traditional bourbon – and the poetically named Yeti Sweat, a punchy twist on a Daiquiri. Elsewhere sharing cocktails are served in Thermos flasks, wine is simply ‘red’ or ‘white’ and food stretches to the basecamp burger or a cheese platter with pear and saffron chutney.
