The Brasserie at Sopwell House is an open plan kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner within this impressive Georgian Hotel in Hertfordshire.
Arriving at Sopwell House you will journey up the hotel’s smart driveway and find the historic white building that is home to a host of places to eat and drink, along with 128 impeccably decorated bedrooms.
The Brasserie is the hotel’s main restaurant, offering an open plan dining experience in a dining room with floor to ceiling windows, allowing the natural light to pour in. The restaurant’s all-day menu offers a fusion of British and Mediterranean classics, along with a daily specials board and a traditional Sunday Roast menu.
Guests dining Monday to Saturday may want to start with warmed English asparagus served with wild rocket, or keep things light with the ever-changing soup of the day. Mains include traditional British dishes such as corn-fed chicken breast with crushed artichoke, or calves liver with champ mash. The grill offers steaks, burgers and fishmonger’s catch of the day, and a choice of comforting sides such as creamy spinach or buttery mash. As expected Sundays are ruled by the roast, with sirloin of British beef, roasted leg of lamb and vegetable and mushroom wellington to choose from, along with a handful of other dishes including pan-fried salmon fillet and the Sopwell House burger. When it comes to drinks, there is a carefully chosen mix of wines and champagnes, along with beers from the local brewery and a classic cocktail menu.
The dessert menu is home to many classic British desserts with a modern take - including the apricot bakewell tart and the chilled coconut rice pudding. Dessert wines, ports and a coffee selection all offer a lovely finale to your dining experience.
