For Streatham locals, SW16 Bar and Kitchen is the friendly, neighbourhood haunt you've been dreaming of. This relaxed, stylish space is intended to feel like a home away from home, with the team encouraging guests to come and enjoy anything from a coffee, to the various plates on their day-to-night dining menu.
Equally, laptop users are happily invited too, so whether you're popping in for a quiet moment with a book, need to do a couple of hours of work, or meeting friends for one of SW16's brilliant boozy brunches, all are welcome.
In terms of the menu, breakfast and lunch is served every day and dishes often change with the seasons but as an example of what you can expect, there's classics such as avocado on toast, with chia seed, balsamic and coriander, alongside a hearty plate of Tuscan sausage and fried egg on a brioche bun with Nduja mayo.
Lunch spans small plates of burrata salad with heritage tomato, fresh strawberries and balsamic dressing, as well as chicken liver pate with apricot glaze, borrettane onion and toasted brioche. There's also a selection of focaccia sandwiches, as well as pastas and mains like tagliatelle with slow cooked beef short rib, or orecchiette with green beans, asparagus and courgette.
The evening menu features some of the same dishes, but with added larger plates like whole grilled seabass canoe with fennel salad and chimichurri, alongside chicken ballotine with speck, nduja and scamorza, potato terrine and roast baby aubergine.
As well as the divine, Itailian-inspired food menu, SW16 Bar and Kitchen has a calendar of foodie events such as bottomless brunch any day of the week, evening aperitivo hour which sees drinks like the Marmelade Spritz on offer two for one, and the monthly supper club, which sees the head chef explore a new region of Italy every time.
