Solo is a modern European restaurant and bar set inside The Kingston 1 hotel in the centre of Kingston Upon Thames. Led by Head Chef Marco Palazzo (formerly at Seabird at The Hoxton hotel), Solo is open from breakfast to dinner, serving a relaxed all-day dining menu in a casual yet elegant setting.
Luxe marble tables, sleek black chairs and on-trend industrial lighting are set against a white-wall backdrop and wooden floor, that gives the restaurant a clean feel, without being too stark.
In the early hours of the day, browse the breakfast menu (served 7:30 – 11:30am) where a wide range of dishes and drinks (including breakfast cocktails) are available. Lap up some luxury with a truffle grilled cheese sandwich or play it safe with a reliable full English.
For dinner, an informal dining menu is available throughout the week including pizzas, burgers and steak, all between £7-15, while on Fridays and Saturdays the chef’s table menu takes centre stage. An elevated dining experience showcasing Chef Marco’s modern cooking techniques, expect dishes that celebrate British produce but with an Italian twist. Small plates include seafood scotch egg and beef short rib croquettes, while mains are kept classic with chicken supreme, spinach and ricotta cannelloni and fillet steak. Many of the dishes are available to order on Sunday, too, between 12-5pm.
There’s a kid-friendly menu if you have little ones in tow, as well as a celebration menu filled with a selection of canapes for groups of minimum six people. Get everyone together for fried chicken with harissa mayo, octopus tentacle with paprika and tomato and mozzarella arancini.
Before or after dinner, guests can enjoy bespoke cocktails at the Solo bar, including the signature Solo Martini. Fun fact: Solo has a dedicated martini menu featuring six variations, including cocktails made with cinnamon and cucumber.
