The Queens Arms

From the same stable as the well-regarded Freemasons in Wandsworth, this new Hammersmith gastropub aims to bring a classy boozer to an area severely lacking in such establishments. Starters such as seared scallops with potato crust, coriander pea puree & crispy pancetta & venison terrine with toasted sourdough are first-rate, with a tinge of adventure about them. Follow with the likes of red snapper with macadamia nut crust & olive potato. There are some good real ales while the wines emphasise Iberian & New Zealand bottles. The focal point of the striking decor is the sturdy black walnut bar & a staircase with a glass balustrade leading to the upstairs dining room. Service is well tuned.
