Square Meal review of Brasserie & Bistro at John Lewis:

Part of a £60m renovation of John Lewis’ flagship store, the new Bistro & Brasserie restaurants sit next door to each other on the third floor & share the same kitchen. However, the food in each is tailored to a different type of customer. The Bistro is squarely aimed at the time-pressed professional with hot & cold tapas-style plates (three for £12), deli sandwiches & sharing platters, served in a smart dining room where you can perch at high tables. The Brasserie is more relaxed with funky multi-coloured carpets & comfortable chairs. Diners linger longer over dishes such as sea bass with leek fondue or roast artichoke pappardelle, while indulgent desserts include a trio of creme brulee. It all feels a million miles away from the all-day breakfasts laid out under hot lights of yore.
