Square Meal review of Candy Bar:
After a run of over a decade, the refurbished black & pink Candy Bar is still the mother of London venues for girls who prefer girls (although their gay male consorts are admitted at the management’s discretion). All-girl DJs with feisty names such as Minx or Slamma lay down the jams until the early hours at weekends, when exotic dancers demonstrate how to work a pole. Lipstick lesbians will dig signature cocktails Gaydar Girl (Malibu, Archers, grenadine, pineapple & cranberry juice) at £6.80. Sisters in waistcoats might prefer Bulmer’s & strong lager by the pint, however.
