The Queen's Pub & Dining Room

Only the most curmudgeonly of regulars will feel alienated by the changes wrought to this magnificent Victorian gin palace, now a focal point for the denizens of Crouch End looking for good beer & somewhere to eat well but unceremoniously. The Grade II-listed building, with extravagantly moulded walls & high ceilings, wood-panelled bars & a garden hosting barbecues in summer, still offers plenty of space for drinking, but there’s now an area dedicated to dining, too. The menu strives less for grandeur than the comfort & reassurance that comes with the likes of tomato & basil soup, smoked mackerel pate, a beef burger with notably good chips, & chocolate mousse. A well-annotated wine list & guest ales contribute to the warm, upbeat mood.
