If it’s a protein hit you’re after, look no further than Blackheath newcomer Buenos Aires. In this small, black & white bolt hole, sister to an eponymous cafe in Greenwich, you’ll find no-nonsense feasts of steak (some topped with eggs), pizza & pasta, reflecting the European melting pot that is Argentina. The kitchen’s robust use of good-quality, native ingredients is evident in every dish on the appealing menu. Try provoleta cheese, black pudding, grilled aubergine or chorizo to start, followed by gorgeous fillet steak or perfectly grilled chicken. A side of great chips is a must & a glass of Argentinian red is a minimum. The walls are packed with photos taken by the Argentinian owner in his previous life as a paparazzo & entertainer – & he won’t hesitate to tell you all about it.
