There’s much to make you smile at this compact neighbourhood Thai café on a residential street away from Brockley’s main drag. For one thing, you can bring your own booze without paying corkage; for another, there’s a strong selection of good-value, crowd-pleasing dishes that keeps locals returning. Tom kha goong – a spicy galangal-infused soup of prawns, mushrooms & coconut milk – is highly praised, as are the stir-fried scallops with fresh chilli & basil. Red & green curries, & stir-fried noodle dishes are perennial favourites, & there are four set meals for the indecisive. Fairy lights, random trinkets & laminated wood-effect floors & walls give the place the feel of a 1970s caff, but the regulars, some of whom visit several times a week, are undeterred. Cash or cheques only.
