Square Meal review of Caribbean Scene:
The latest addition to Excel’s array of dining options injects some Caribbean vibrancy to a rather soulless area. The L-shaped dining room is lined with banquettes, white plantation shutters & is dominated by a dreamy scene of sand, sea & palm trees to get you in the mood. The focus is on Caribbean staples – smoky jerk chicken, fish stew, curried goat with rice & peas – & dishes are both well prepared & elegantly presented. As you would expect, there is a selection of 35 different rums on offer in the cane-clad Hurricane Bar as well as a long list of Caribbean inspired cocktails. There’s also a sunny terrace overlooking the water, plus live music at weekends.
