Vodka, not sedition, is the raison d’être of this enormous flagship branch of Revolution – a monster bar that sprawls over four floors of the old Midland Bank building. There’s a bewildering array of flavoured vodkas at the bar, from birthday cake to Turkish delight by way of fruit salad, while cocktail specials might include the radical Del Boy (Eristoff vodka, Blue Curaçao, pineapple juice & Teichenné coconut liqueur) – although there are also plenty of familiar-sounding classics for less extreme tastes. Pizzas, salads & steak feed the masses, though not all are happy with the results or the ‘slow’ service. The bank’s former strong room has been stormed to create an opulent space for private parties, & the basement disco eschews ideological purity in favour of chart hits, electro, hip-hop & indie.
