The Empire Casino’s multimillion-pound refit injects high octane, if spectacularly garish, Vegas pizzazz into the heart of the West End. But even non-gamblers would be well advised to take a punt on the venue’s numerous watering holes, best of which is the 007-themed Shadow bar, a dance bar that beats to funky house & features girls cavorting in silhouette behind light panels, as in a Bond movie opening credits sequence. The wine list is short & the cocktail line-up sticks mainly to the classics. Jackpot winners should order Cristal, for what is a mere £200 when you’re on a winning streak?
