Square Meal Selections

Square Meal Review of The Roxy ?

Pass by the Roxy most nights & you can expect a queue snaking out of its doors. Not a designer-clad, ultra-groomed set of wannabees, but a grungy, chatty group of young indie fans – although their chosen sounds make way for cheesy chart hits on Saturdays. At the bar, bottled beers jostle for attention with cider & alcopops, while house wine is a student-friendly £3.85 a glass; otherwise, grown-up cocktails (an apple cosmo, say) are overshadowed by their package-holiday cousins, including mai tai, sex on the beach & the zombie – all available by the pitcher (£7.95 during happy hour). If that doesn’t put you in the mood, perhaps a shot of Jägermeister or one of the equally retro cocktail shooters will hit the spot.
