Discreetly hidden at the back of The Montague, this bar has the air of a gentlemen’s club, but without demanding a costly membership fee. Welcoming staff & hunting-lodge decor – all dark woods, pewter tankers & tartans – reinforce the clubby feel, & in the evenings it’s a great place to drink a signature martinez & order up a distinguished cigar for puffing on the outdoor terrace. By day, the airy conservatory (kitted out with fashionable striped furniture) is an equally appealing spot, but the outdoor space really comes into its own during the summer, when roast suckling pig, tuna steaks & char-grilled burgers are served at tables overlooking the peaceful gardens, along with jugs of Pimm’s & iced tea.
