During the day, the place loses some of its sheen & glamour as unflattering natural light picks out its worn wooden floors & battered sofas – perhaps that explains the lack of takers for its great-value set menu of hot sandwiches plus hand-cut chips & a drink for just £4.95. You can also order bigger dishes such as calamari & chips with lime aïoli to see you through until the partying begins. Draught beer is limited to Kronenbourg & Guinness, but most punters stick to the modest list of mainstream cocktails, which runs from mojitos & mai tais to mint juleps & margaritas.
