A wedge-shaped bar in a landmark Smithfield building, Charterhouse pulls a ragbag of Clerkenwell trendies & City folk. It also acts as a hook-up spot for Fabric or Turnmills-bound party animals. A double-decked affair in both layout & DJ action, it offers an unremarkable beer range (Erdinger Weiss & San Miguel the best of the bunch), alongside reasonably priced, mostly New World wines, & cocktails at around £6. Food is served between noon & 9.30pm: Thai fishcakes, bangers & mash, a pasta dish & Cajun chicken burger all likely candidates in a short line-up.
