This über-bling bar in London’s diamond district has nailed every modern design feature in the book. White leather? Check. Curved seats? Check. Mirrors? Check. Vintage-patterned neon wallpaper? Check. Three-storey Clerkenwell House has revamped its drinks offering, with an extensive cocktail list featuring classics & twists on old favourites such as the caramel Manhattan or camomile martini – a favourite with the young, high-heeled crowd, although it would probably make Humphrey Bogart curl his lip in disapproval. Sustenance comes in the form of a competitively priced, Med-influenced menu that could feature linguine with prawn ragù or pan-fried salmon with lemon & capers as well as warm chicken salad or BBQ Cumberland sausage. In the evening, it’s a matter of antipasti platters, king prawn tempura & other globally inclined nibbles.
